Vertical Training™ is quite different and requires focus and time to be able to master. It is difficult and challenging. I was surprised by how much my grip was affected on the fundamental movements. Gives a great workout fast! My favorite part however, is all the attachments for agility and foot work and explosive movements, and along with Vertical Training™ they are the greatest benefit for mixed martial arts. FightWall™ suspension training and the core stabilization are high on my list because I have some difficulties and fun with them. I use the FightWall’s™ Vertical Training™ for my wrestling because of the added strength benefits received from the whole body training and it makes my super strong vice like grip. I incorporate Vertical Training™ into my weight training regimen as well. I can control my weight and be my own spotter, adjusting my body weight and fatigue. As a mixed martial artist I’m always looking for innovative ways to improve performance, and the first improvement is in grip strength. Surprisingly the FitWall® is aerobic & anaerobic – the pace and difficulty of the training can be manipulated to produce either type of exercise. I personally was surprised at the effectiveness of the exercise. How much variability there is in the amount of different movements there can be, also the level of difficulty was much more than I expected. With the FitWall there are no limits! It has so many functions. Like any type of training you have progressions. You can always add exercises, weights, reps, time, etc, to always continue to challenge you. Another thing is that the autonomic nervous system is deaf and blind and it always has that fear of falling downward which keeps everything activated and working simultaneously. FiWall is aerobic and anaerobic. You can work and train the body in different ways increasing and having to take in large volumes of oxygen or hit a muscle like a strength move where the oxygen is depleted and as a byproduct, lactic acid is built up. I loved it. Definitely different. My grip failed so fast. It brought me to a quick realization of how many things I need to work on. I couldn’t stop thinking of how bad I wanted to get my clients on them and start putting together my own programs after just my first experience. I liked the range of motion and the strength movements through flexibility and movement. I got fatigued my first time but luckily my grip gave out before I got crushed completely by the exercises. Excited and I incorporate it into my own routine.

Vertical Training’s™ 14 Fundamental exercises provide a good foundation for a workout on its own, and especially for pre-post workout warm-up for other methods of training, such as plyometrics, strength and agility. FitWall Yoga™ is great for flexibility and improving range of motion. I enjoyed the versatility of the FitWall. As Doug Brendle stated “imagination and education are the only limits”. The Vertical Training™ 14 fundamental exercises incorporated a full body workout through vertical movements using all muscles to strengthen and help us develop the power through the entire movement. We can do this with elderly and injured athletes through rehabilitation with the FitWall® by starting off with the basic fundamental movement and modifying them for every individual. Vertical training was very interesting and exciting. Putting our body under demand through different forms of exercise is always very exciting. One of the workouts I am able to incorporate the FightWall™ into is core training to stimulate and strengthen for MMA training. Secondly I am able to use the bar attachment for stretching as I suffer from multiple muscle injuries and soreness. Resistance bands are used for training the punches and kicks. I like the fact that it appeared to be simple and easy to do until I actually did it, and the amount of hand grip and forearm strength used to hold myself up while doing the exercises was simply off the chart. I use the FightWall™ to development forearm strength for Judo and Brazilian Jujitsu as gripping is important in controlling my opponent. I went to the FitWall Level 1 training course thinking that I was going to learn how to climb up and down a climbing wall. I soon learned that this was not a climbing wall; it’s a total body workout. You would be able to immediately incorporate core training when using the FitWall. The core is crucially important to maintaining stabilization under the demands Vertical Training™ places on the body. I think vertical training takes exercise to a new level. I love how hard it works your core and gives you a full body workout in minutes. It gets your heart rate up quickly while challenging all muscle groups. As far as using the wall as a trainer for a client it works better than excellent for so many different types of training, simple to advanced, and I think the FitWall is an excellent resource for sport specific training. Whether using the resistance bands to strengthen a kick or using it to strengthen a throw. There is so much to know and learn about the FitWall, it’s awesome!

I think FitWall’s Vertical Training is awesome. My thoughts are that it has a lot to offer. I’m the type of trainer that is exploring all modes of exercise. I find that working your body in all its modes in all its range of motion, in all its energy systems/metabolic pathways creates harmony and a little bit of everything will do a lot. My personal training practice grows and grows and I’ll never let it stop growing. It’s obvious there is an eclectic world of fitness out there to explore.
